They're Coming for Our Children!

Where is the Church?

“The only foundation for a useful education in a republic is to be laid in {the Christian} religion. Without this there can be no virtue, and without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republican governments." - Benjamin Rush, 1786
“The best means of forming a manly, virtuous, and happy people will be found in the right education of youth. Without this foundation, every other means, in my opinion, must fail.” – George Washington, 1784

Our Scriptural Responsibility

In the book of Genesis, we remember the story of Sodom and Lot’s children. God’s angels come to Lot’s house to warn him to take his family and leave quickly, because God will soon destroy the city. But the men of Sodom demanded the 2 men (angels) be brought out so that they could “have sexual relations with them”.  Lot would have sent his daughters out in their place, but the angels prevented it.

May we ask, what is the difference between this event and the current demands from the state education system that all children in the public-school system be educated from the earliest of ages to consider homosexuality as a normal – and even a praiseworthy - lifestyle to experiment with?

Why is the church absolutely silent in the area of education? The Bible surely isn’t.

Never in all scripture is it even hinted that the state is responsible for educating any children – most especially our (Christian) children!

Deuteronomy 4 and Romans 13 make it manifestly clear whose responsibility it is to educate and whose responsibility it is to protect a nation. Today, all of the responsible parties mentioned in those passages, we may fairly conclude, are derelict of their God-given duties, and virtually all the chaos in our nation today can be traced back to the one neglected principle at the heart of the Deuteronomy passages: All society rests upon the success – or failure – of parents and the church in educating the future generations.

Hosea 4:6 states My people perish from lack of knowledge. Deuteronomy 6:1-9 speaks emphatically about educating our children so that we will not suffer the consequences of ignorance. Where in these scriptures is it implied that there is to be a separation between “secular” education (or knowledge) and Biblical/moral applications of knowledge to life?

Every day we witness radical increases in the promotion of the most abhorrent lies and deceptions masquerading as knowledge. Our whole society – especially our children – are being beat up and left bleeding on the side of the road similar to the battered man in the parable of the Good Samaritan; all the while the church avoids the scene like the priest and the Levite in that parable. Over the last 10 years we have seen the most detestable sexual behaviors promoted militantly throughout our society, leading to the breakdown of the family unit, the church and the nation. Our communities appear on the brink of war with one another due to the rapid acceleration of hateful rhetoric and violence from the Left side of the political and ideological spectrum in America as they demand absolute compliance from anyone who would disagree with their godless worldview.

These demands from the Left are directed at a wide range of issues; i.e., gay marriage and LGBTQ rights, racism (usually pointing at white privilege as the cause), gun rights, bullying, socialism-vs-capitalism, politically-correct speech and the silencing of religion (specifically the Christian religion), immigration/border control, and multi-culturalism - to name just a few. In each of these subjects, the education system and the media are screaming anti-God, anti-Christian rhetoric 24/7 that presents only their false, ignorant, and often twisted viewpoint – labeling and shaming anyone who disagrees with the formal position of the State into silence and submission.

The purveyors of these philosophies not only condemn those who disagree by labeling them as Nazis, haters, evil, dangerous, or despicable human beings. Their hateful speech is motivating those who have been deceived by their ideas to commit the most uncivilized and barbaric acts upon those who are simply trying to speak up for the rule of law and for righteousness in our culture

Our country is on the brink of another civil war. Our children and our families are being taken captive to these deadly ideas!

The question is: Where is the Church?

What Can We Do Now?

We respectfully suggest that churches re-examine their priorities and consider how to assist the parents in taking on the responsibility to closely oversee their children’s education - to the best of their ability.

Here are some ideas:

  1. Work to become fluent in teaching from a worldview perspective. Bring the Scriptures to life in today’s world. In other words, teach the application of scripture to all areas of today’s life; i.e., economics, philosophy, ethics, politics, sociology, etc.
  2. Provide assistance (monetary or other) for those who wish to home-school, but need help to transition away from both parents working full-time.
  3. Create or assist homeschool co-ops that can benefit single parents who must work to support their family
  4. Provide assistance in tutoring. Train salaried or lay pastors to teach specific classes from a worldview perspective for co-ops.
  5. Provide a library of educational tools that families can take advantage of
  6. Host seminars, ministries, or speakers to bring focused attention upon this vital area of Christian education
  7. Support – from the pulpit – representatives that strongly support school-choice legislation
  8. Take action to reform the school districts in your area by helping to equip and provide moral support for those in your congregations who might serve on local school boards.
  9. Every church has a “missions” budget. What greater mission-field is there than the families and children in our own congregations? Remember Hosea 4:6: My people perish from lack of knowledge!

Consider that we are living amidst a fierce battleground of ideas. We are the warriors for the Truth. If we refrain from joining the battle, those who peddle the lies of the enemy will continue to win the day.
