We’ve said before that we are in the midst of World War III. It’s not yet an all-out a physical war, but that will come if we don’t diligently begin equipping ourselves, our children, grandchildren, and churches to enter the battle of ideas attacking us from every direction today.
To help you in your efforts, Breck Wheelock has recently published a new book titled Be Strong in the Lord – a Tactical Guide for Spiritual Warfare. Based on the famous passage in Ephesians 6 by the apostle Paul on the Spiritual Armor of God, Breck goes into detail explaining each element of this supernatural battle gear.
Breck writes,
“Always remember, never forget that you are in a war. Every generation of Christians will be tested to see whether they will take care to walk in the way of the Lord, … to be diligent to obey all that HE commands.”
In the opening of the book’s first chapter, he references Judges 3:1-2, which states that God left evil nations in the Promised Land to test Israel by them, that is, all in Israel who had no experience of any war in Canaan. It was so that the generations (every generation) of the people of Israel might know war, that HE might teach war to those who had not known it before.
“It is a fatal mistake to forget that we are in a war,” Breck continues, “for our enemy never forgets. And there are too many oblivious Christians walking about on the battlefield completely unaware of what is going on around them. Do not be one of them.
“This war shall rage until the very last moment of the very last day when Christ returns on his War Horse… To slay his remaining enemies with the sword that comes from HIS mouth (the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God). (Revelation 19:11-12)
Born into a Battleground
“You are in a war, regularly being fired upon by a very real and very powerful enemy. As a Christian soldier, it is your duty to combat this enemy. You are to be strong in the Lord and put on the full armor of God that you may stand against the schemes of the devil.
“Therefore, to equip you in your soldiering, this book provides a thorough exposition on the full armor of God, as revealed in Ephesians 6:10-20. The central thesis of this tactical and practical guide to spiritual warfare is that the full armor of God is the full counsel of God; thus, you should not expect to make much progress in your spiritual warfare if you are unwilling to be a serious student of the Word. Confident and fearless is the Christian soldier whose mind is enveloped in the Scriptures.
“Aways remember, never forget that you are not alone in this war. Scripture indicates that a third of the angels fell with Satan, which means we still have 2/3 of the elect angels on our side. That is a two-to-one mismatch. For every one demon, there are two elect angels on our side!
“Therefore, be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of your enemies, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you! He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Every Generation Has Its Own Theater of War
“As Americans, our war theater, broadly speaking, is the United States. More specifically, [it] encompasses the state in which we reside, the city where our home is located, and all those surrounding cities wherein we live and move and have our being. This is the area where the events of our spiritual warfare are primarily occurring and progressing.
Moreover, In every generation there is a particular military campaign. As Christians, our military campaign is to fulfill the Great Commission of Christ: Discipling the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that Christ has commanded. This single, specific objective does not change, but remains constant from generation to generation.
However, the specific forms of opposition and the impediments that each generation will face can and do change. Thus, the series of operations that a given generation employs must adapt to the different forms of opposition and unique impediments that arise within that generation.
Indeed, consider how fiercely the enemy has warred against our ability to freely proclaim the gospel and to pursue holiness over the last several years.
Consider how drastically our war theater has changed just [since 2020] as a result of the enemy’s successful pandemic—or perhaps more appropriately known—pandemonic—military campaign. The incessant, despotic, carpet bombing by the enemy over the years has so severely altered the spiritual landscape of our war theater that it has become almost unrecognizable.
This bombardment of tyranny, instigated by spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places, has left many Christians feeling shell-shocked. Did we ever think that our religious liberties would be utterly discarded the way they were during the period of the pandemic? Did we ever think that state and local governments would put forth mandates to restrict us from freely gathering at a local church, [or that] the federal government would mandate that we be part of a science experiment even if it might violate our conscience? And that they would threaten to take away our livelihood if we refused?
These are but some of the. Opposing forces and impediments. That the Lord has left for our generation., to test us, To see whether we shall take care to walk in the way of the Lord. And obey his commands. And there are various temptations. That accompany all of these challenges, which each of us must face. As Christian soldiers.
For example, there is the temptation to forsake the gathering of the saints; to violate our conscience due to fear; to compromise the gospel, which tells us that in Christ we are not to view each other in terms of our ethnic background (as CRT would have us do); to disregard the plain teaching of Scripture that explicitly states that God made man male and female and that any sexual relationship outside of marriage (the marriage of a man and a woman) is sin, etc.”
Be Strong in the Lord – a Tactical Guide for Spiritual Warfare is replete with practical applications for thriving in the midst of today’s battles … “Always remember, never forget that after this war comes glory!”
We all need a good strong dose of inner strength and encouragement to engage in this struggle of good vs. evil. You’ll find this book a powerful tool in helping you walk confidently and courageously, knowing that when we do our part to become equipped for battle, our Mighty God will go before us to defeat all enemies!
