What Does the Bible Say?

According to a 2018 survey from George Barna, nearly 60% of young adults who walk away from Christianity state their main reason as “The Bible, the Church, and Christianity are not relevant in my life.”
Why is this? Because for decades most churches have been under the misguided belief that politics and social issues “don’t belong” in the church. And though that “doctrine” is not supported by the Scriptures, tradition and fear of losing congregants has kept the church quiet. In effect, we’ve been telling our families and the watching world that Christianity has nothing to say on the issues of our day that are tearing us apart.
But the Bible is replete from cover to cover with principles, precepts, and examples to instruct us how to respond righteously in all circumstances. 2 Peter states that everything we need for life and Godliness is contained in the Scriptures. As we seek Him in our daily devotions, God speaks to us in real time regarding the concerns that affect us in our culture–IF we’re listening.
But most people are crying out for clarity in the battle of ideas raging in the world today. Confused and concerned, they simply don't know who to trust to help them discern good ideas from bad. Many Christians are hoping their church will help them in this vital discipline of life.
Where Can I Find a reliable Source for Truth?

There cannot be opposing Truths. “Truth” isn’t true if it varies by time, location, or personal opinion. Thus, Truth must be unchanging— eternal. It must come from an infinite source, which is God alone. If all Christians truly understood this principle, we would be consulting our Bibles daily so that we would not be deceived and mislead. However, most Christians don’t read their Bibles often because they’re not convinced that the Bible contains absolute, eternal truth. Many say, “It’s good for personal applications, but it doesn’t relate to my day-to-day world (reality).” There can be no greater lie than this.
The Scriptures are Alive! The precepts and principles of the Bible are always true, therefore they apply to all of life, yesterday, today, and forever.
You ask: “So, what’s this got to do with the subject of this article?” …Good question.
The day following the bombing referred to in the title, our church “coincidentaly” opened to Second Samuel 21 in the course of reading through that book. Verses 1-9 present a main gospel precept that righteousness cannot exist when justice is not enforced. The terms righteousness and justice are two sides of the same coin. One cannot exist without the other. When a nation, community, or family ignores justice each will suffer consequences.
The main lesson in this section of Scripture reveals that David sought God’s instruction regarding a serious a problem the people of Israel were suffering under: Judgment had fallen upon Israel because years earlier, King Saul and his seven sons had conspired against the innocent and vulnerable people of Gibeon, murdering many of their families —contrary to God's will. Justice had not been administered by Israel to punish those who committed evil, thus the nation was being judged.
Again, the day we read this section of Scripture “just happened” to be the day after America had bombed several nuclear sites in Iran. Many Christians were confused and feared that our nation may have begun an unjust war—one that might bring retaliation upon our country. The question on everyone’s mind was, “Did our nation do the right thing? What would the Scriptures say?”
The answer was clear from the verses studied that day. This account in I Samuel had just been applied in real time. America is suffering because of the lack of justice and righteousness in our country. Around the globe, lawlessness abounds. Just like Israel in Second Samuel, there must be righteousness and justice applied in our nation and the world. In America’s role as the keepers of God's Word and as the leaders of the world, we have allowed Iranian religious leaders to foster fear around the globe for decades, sponsoring terrorism, committing unspeakable evil against defenseless and innocent women, children and people in general. God hates such sin!
Justice has not been administered by any other nation to stop this rampant evil. America just dealt with this most terrible threat in human history, nuclear bombs in the hands of a nation that hates God and hates all of His people. But America administered justice on June 25, 2025. For the 1st time In 25 years, the world Is freed from the fear of Iran's threat of nuclear destruction. The “People of the Book” (Israel and America) have greatly diminished the power of wickedness in the world.
The principles of doing righteously by not neglecting justice given in Deuteronomy 28 are seen in both examples. Our God is still on the throne. He doesn't change. This has been a spiritual warfare battle played out before our eyes because the American people voted for this leadership. They spoke up.
God's people can take comfort in knowing that the LORD will not allow injustice to continue forever when His people step onto the battlefield simply by making our voice heard—as was David’s nearly 3.000 years ago. Biblical teaching always applies to individuals in the church as well as to His Body the Church. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He speaks to individuals and gives marching orders for His Church when we stand for His righteous precepts.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
